Doctor of Education (Ed.D.)

Dr. Masaichiro Nashiro, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shogaku Gakuen Education Foundation, Vice Principal of Okinawa Shogaku Junior and Senior High School (a.k.a. Okisho), has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation as his final requirement for being awarded the Doctor of Education Degree from Saint.Mary’s University of Minnesota, U.S.A on March 26, 2009.

Dr. Nashiro taught Modern History of Japan at Saint John’s University in Minnesota from the fall semester of 2004 to the fall semester of 2007 while attending doctoral graduate courses by night to fulfill his degree requirements. Even upon his return from the U.S.A. with his family, he immediately reported to duty, without missing a beat, to his post as the second in helm of the Shogaku Group while working into the late nights to complete his dissertation.

Dr. Nashiro, representing the doctoral degree candidates at the commencement held on 7 June 2009, made an unforgettable humorous five minute speech. The speech received laughter and round of applause from the audience and his colleagues.
