Various programs are in-progress with sister schools in the United States, Taiwan, Brazil, and Australia. In Minnesota, USA, Saint John’s University hosts a 3 week program called SAP (Summer Advancement Program) which provides our students the opportunity to learn the English language and the American culture while experiencing a glimpse of college life staying in a dormitory. In the 3 week REP (Reciprocal Exchange Program), Cotter High School and our students participate in various educational and cultural programs arranged by the hosting school. The REP participants stay with the students of the host school. We offer a One Year Study Abroad Program with Saint John’s Prep School and Cotter High School. Our students are entitled for a maximum of 30 credits from Okisho for participation in such programs. We also provide student support services in other study abroad programs.
With the sister schools in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, students are actively engaged in a regular pen pal program. In addition, our students participate actively in a joint studies and presentation at the ASEP (Asian Students Exchange Program) held annually at the end of the year. Some of the students continue on to stay for a while longer during the winter break by participating in the Taiwan REP (Reciprocal Exchange Program) hosted by both of our sister schools. While Okisho, the student body, and the parents reciprocate the hospitalities by hosting students from our sister schools from Taiwan, the USA, and Brazil annually in July.
The REP with Brazil is held simultaneously together with other sister schools students visiting Okisho in the month of July annually. Okisho students visit our sister schools in Brazil during the summer break and always finds time to visit the local Okinawa Citizen’s Associations to exchange friendship through cultural performances with youths of Okinawan ancestry.
The Australia Homestay Program (AHP), Junior High School students enjoy the Aussie lifestyle and unique natural environment of the southern hemisphere. These programs motivate interest and provide confidence to study at foreign universities.
